Vintage helmet interior repair process

Example 1993 BELL XFM-1
The fabric is clean but the sponge and urethane melt.

Disassemble carefully.
When pulled too much, the dough breaks or stretches.

Jaw Parts can be easily removed.
The head inside shell is fixed with adhesive.
Warm the whole and insert the bent ruler to remove the adhesive.(If it does not separate, do not remove it forcibly.)

Carefully peel off the cloth so that it does not extend.

Remove the tags and stickers. and wash the fabric with hot water and detergent.
The condition of the cloth is good. Reuse.
Incombustible dough is difficult to obtain.
.
 Wash the helmet shell too.
 Allow to dry completely.

Sponge and urethane.
I tried variously.
Elastomer urethane for audio speakers is the best.
Also use door clearance sponge tape.
 Top of the head
Use a water-based adhesive that does not dissolve styrol.

Stick a thin urethane on the head side and stick a cloth.

Stick a thick urethane on the cheek
Urethane of the neck is made thicker than the original.

It can be molded smoothly.

Install the interior on the shell.

Carefully attach to the shell so as not to break the polystyrene.
After mounting, put the water-based adhesive in the shell gap.
Jaw Parts are fixed with double sided tape.
 Adjust the position.

 Completed!
